Globalization has brought about a distinct class divide instead of ushering in a classless society. Critically Examine!

Globalization means global expansion and integration of functional activity. Globalization has come as something of a bonanza for some of the sections of Indian society and the Indian Diaspora. NRI's look forward to new business opportunities in a globalization India. Another outcome of globalization has been a huge increase in salaries of skilled professionals working or their native companies or MNC's. Educated youth get many opportunities. English speaking and skilled class started to earn handsome salaries. For It literate people the job opportunities have increased. Globalization has aerated more job opportunities for skilled labors, thus there income has increased manifold. Liberalization and privatization were both precondition of globalization. This helped a section of the people to emerge as entre prenurnal and elite class.

With greater access to disposable income, the seduction of consumerism becomes hard to resist. This new and more prosperous class of Indian consumers. Their expending capacity has increased. More foreign companies and investment came in India because of Globalization. Globalised market opened many horizons for Indian companies also. But on the other hand, unskilled and uneducated class got no benefit of the globalization. The interest of a particular section of Indian need not match the real interests of all other sections of Indian society.

Other sections of the society may benefit only to the extent that a fraction of this new prosperity trickles down to them. Some may not benefit at all, while some may even be adversely affected. Not only this, unskilled labors are losing their job opportunity and thus their income is reducing. Income disparities of the people created more gap between the people. Now old classes based on caste, religion etc. started to dilute, but economical gap divided the society into classes.

Therefore, globalization has brought about a distinct class divide in India instead of ushering in a classless society.
