Main Recommendations of PFA adopted at the Beijing Women Conference, 1995?

Beijing women conference, 1995 had adopted a 'Platform for Action' analyzing obstacles of women's advancement and recommending steps for overcoming them. Much of the conference was dedicated to planning for the future. They are intended to mobilize society to meet the challenges and demands of the next century.

There are four important parts of the main recommendations of the Platform For Action (PFA) :-

(i) The dialogue on the recommendation of purpose,
(ii) Global framework,
(iii) Special area for awakening, and
(iv) Important aim and action.

Main agenda in this conference was women empowerment. In the conference the main recommendations of Vienna conference were asked to be implemented. In the recommendations, the demand for enough power and right regarding social economic and political area was raised. It was also made clear in the recommendations that to fulfill the aims and objectives of the PAF a faithful trial and strong promises are necessary.

A global framework has been constructed for the empowerment of women. Under this it has been made clear that all the primary rules and activities are to be implemented within five years. On the basis of population and development United Nations Conference was held under this. Admitting the usefulness of the conferences and cooperating with the rules and then implementation, necessary arrangements were made.

Under the global framework (a) the economic condition of the women, (b) political empowerment (c) health and nutrition (d) reformations regarding labour etc. were shown as the future policies. The PAF is intended to speed up the process of making the forward-looking strategies a reality, by proposing actions to be taken by policy makers and by women and men at the grass roots.

Under special area for awakening the following sectors have been depicted. Lack of property, insufficient and faulty education and training, worsening situation regarding health, violence against women, inequality regarding the economic sector, absence in law making, inequality on the gender account specially regarding power and decision making, women are lagging behind. Ignorance is seen regarding the human rights of the women, gender inequality among children, discrimination at employment places etc. prevail.

Issues related to the women should be given importance, importance should be given on finding out the solutions regarding the problems related to the women. Those women should be given importance who are comparatively backward. Issues like the women empowerment and socio-economic situation of women affected by the nature etc. Age related, cultural, and linguistic areas were given the prime importance in the conference.
